Cheese has a long and rich history. Here are just a few notable events in the history of cheese: ~2000 BC * Egyptian tomb murals bring us some of the earliest archeological evidence of cheesemaking. These cheeses were likely to have been very sour and salty (lots of salt was needed to preserve the cheese in the hot, arid climate). ~1050 BC * Jesse sent ten cheeses with his son David when he went to check on his brothers as they were cowering in fear before Goliath (1 Samuel 17). ~800 BC * Homer’s Odyssey describes the Cyclops making and storing sheep’s and goats’ milk cheese
